Here are some notes on membership, pattern, structure, and function of the New Testament Church.

The Blueprint of the Church

Why Membership?

  1. God counts His people.
  2. The Bible refers to records kept of people’s names.
  3. We are members of the Body of Christ.
  4. We are members of a local Church.

God’s pattern for building

  1. God is a builder.
  2. God gives specific instructions for building.
  3. God has a plan for building.
  4. God is strengthening Churches.
  5. We are to build one another up.

The building of the New Testament Church

  1. Jesus is building His Church.
  2. The New Testament Church is God’s house.
  3. There are order and structure in God’s house.

The structure of a local Church

  1. Modeled after the New Testament Church.
  2. We have a Lead Elder/Pastor.
  3. The structure includes Elders and Deacons.
  4. Saints and servant-leaders make up the Church.

The operation of the Church

  1. Responsibilities of the Elders/Pastors: Word and prayer, Equip, Preach and teach, Protect, Correct, Lead and feed; shepherd and serve
  2. Everyone’s Responsibilities: Believe, Love, Respect, Attend, Tithe/give, Compassion, Unity, Serve
